OpenID Profiles and Attribute Exchange

OpenID Providers should make your OpenID URL a rich profile page and
encourage you to use it as your Master Profile.
vs
Your Master Profile page should include discovery links to your OpenID
so that you can quote it's URL when using OpenID.
Are those two incompatible? Or just different reflections of the same
thing?
I wonder if there's a layer of indirection missing in the second
scenario. A way of telling the OpenID provider that your mastre profile
is over there. So when Attribute Exchange is invoked it either passes
back the source of the data or gets a local cached copy to be served up
in AX.
I'm concerned that a small scale provider like MyOpenID is going to end
up having to implement a Plaxo or Facebook like Profile Maintenance
system.
Also interesting here is Yahoo actively discouraging you from using your
Yahoo Profile as your OpenID URL.
